Weymouth (Aug 2008)

Kevin Wilde club DO organised a club trip to Weymouth using Tango

The following dive sites were dived during the week with Canon ball run being the second dive on 2 consecutive days. Low Worth Banks and Canon ball run were drift dives with the opportunity to collect scallops. All other dives were wreck dives.

  • Torpedo Range, Portland
  • Submarine M2
  • Low Worth Banks
  • Landing Craft & Bombardon Unit, Portland
  • Eleanor R
  • Countess of Erne, Portland
  • Canon ball run, Balaclava bay
  • Alex van Opstal
  • Aeolian Sky

Diving started with disappointing dives and low vis. The surface conditions were boarder-line. Next day we aborted the first plan and went for sheltered dives in Portland which were better and the week showed improvements as it went on. This followed with a wreck and drift dive on each day for the rest of the week with good conditions and vis steadily improving.

Overall a very enjoyable week, with some none Teesside43 branch members joining us from Yorkshire divers and the local BSAC Weymouth branch.
